The Minuteman Band ‘s performance at the 45th Annual Multiband Pops concert last night was interrupted for a very special announcement.

It’s a small gesture to thank Thom Hannum during his 40th season with the Minuteman Marching Band.
Since the fall of 1980, the UMass Drumline has been lead by the inimitable Thom Hannum.
The Lowell Mason Award is presented annually to recognize members of the Massachusetts Music Educators Association (MMEA) who have been leaders in music education.
Hannum brought his expertise to the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, including an arrangement of Bartok’s “Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta.”
The UMass Concert Band features the world-premiere of “G.P.,” written in memory of former Minuteman Band director George Parks.
