Lea Mitchell Crowned College Miss Majorette of Massachusetts

Minuteman Marching Band Feature Twirler Lea Mitchell has been crowned College Miss Majorette of Massachusetts, earning one of the highest honors in the state’s competitive baton twirling community.

A senior Public Health Sciences major, Mitchell is a familiar face to Minuteman Marching Band fans. On the field, she helps bring UMMB performances to life. Off the field, she has built an impressive competitive résumé through years of dedication to the sport.

In 2024, Mitchell represented both UMass and the New England twirling community at international competition, earning an 8th-place finish in World Open Advanced Solo and placing 14th in World Open Advanced X-Strut. Her specialties include advanced solo and three-baton events, disciplines that combine athleticism, precision, and artistry.

Mitchell also serves on the Minuteman Band’s Field Staff, helping support and mentor fellow performers while balancing academics and competition.

The College Miss Majorette of Massachusetts title recognizes excellence in performance, leadership, and representation of the sport. The honor qualifies Mitchell to compete on the national stage while serving as an ambassador for baton twirling throughout the Commonwealth.

Her achievement continues a tradition of excellence among UMass Twirlers and reflects the dedication and professionalism that define the Minuteman Marching Band.
