How Are Your Feet?

This Minuteman Band tradition was first introduced by Dr. John Jenkins in the 1960s. When George Parks became the band director in 1977, he added the “Eyes—With Pride” section at the end. At the end of each rehearsal or performance, Parks calls the group to attention. He begins, “How are Your Feet?” and the band members shout back, “Together!” The words help the students to remember a solid marching posture and provide a fitting closure for the day’s events.

Through Parks’ work with the George N. Parks Drum Major Academy (DMA) and the Bands of America (BOA) Summer Symposium, thousands of high school drum majors and band leaders have brought this cheer back to their bands. Over the years, “How Are Your Feet?” has become nationally recognized and is used by groups across the country.
