Frequently Asked Questions
I’m not marching. Do I need to register for Homecoming?
It depends. If you plan to attend any band alumni events during Homecoming, we ask that you register (even if not marching with the alumni band).
If you are not marching, then you need to purchase a ticket to the game through Ticketmaster or the Athletics Ticket Office.
This is my first Homecoming. What can I expect?
Homecoming is a fun reunion of UMass band alumni from all eras including the Joe Contino, John Jenkins and George Parks days. Alumni from all time get together at Multibands and during the football game to celebrate memories and good friends. The alumni band performs at halftime.
I want to march, but no longer own an instrument. Can I borrow one from the band?
No. We ask that ALL members of the alumni band borrow or rent an instrument for Homecoming. This is especially critical for 2010.
What is the alumni band uniform?
For 2010, the uniform is a commemorative shirt with khakis. This shirt can be purchased through the alumni band registration process.
Do I need to purchase a game ticket?
Members of the alumni band do not need a ticket to the game. However, your spouse/partner, children, family and friends DO need a ticket.
Can I sit with the band during the game?
Yes. The “baby band” sits in Section 8 of the stadium. For 2010, Section 9 has been reserved for the alumni band. Section 7 is RESERVED seating for paying fans.
Is child care available?
No. Please make babysitting arrangements or treat your favorite caregiver to a fun day of football and music. Neither the university nor the band can accept the liability or post the insurance bond required for child care.
