Fresh off an exciting Homecoming Weekend celebrating the legacy of the Minuteman Band and dedicating the George N. Parks Minuteman Marching Band Building, the band is off to Indianapolis for another weekend in the spotlight.
With Minuteman Band and UMass Drumline performances at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) at the Indiana Convention Center and Bands of America Grand National Championships at Lucas Oil Stadium, UMass’ presence will be felt.
At PASIC, attendees will also benefit from the experience of the band’s own Thom Hannum and Colin McNutt in these panel discussions:
Marching: Where Are We Now?: A discussion of the most significant changes in the marching percussion activity the past 50 years
Moderator: Dennis DeLucia. Panelists: Thom Hannum, Ralph Hardimon, Scott Johnson, Tom Float, Pedro Orey, Julie Davila.
Health & Wellness: Conditioning the Marching Percussionist as a Performer and an Athlete
Moderator: Brian Mason. Panelists: Colin McNutt, Bret Kuhn, Scott Johnson, Paul Rennick.
This will be the Minuteman Band’s fifth appearance at BOA Grand Nationals, having appeared in 1993, 1998, 2004 and 2007.
