Plans Extended – Band Building will include practice rooms!

As the excitement continues seeing the new George N. Parks Marching Band Building take shape in the form of concrete and steel forms, we’ve just gotten word that the former abattoir section of Grinnell Arena has been approved for development into 10-14 individual practice rooms! This represents the final piece of a truly world-class facility for the Minuteman Marching Band.

With this latest addition to the building program, it is more critical than ever to make or renew your gift to the Minuteman Band Building Fund. Easy payment options and naming opportunities are available.

These undated photos, courtesy of  Special Collections and University Archives, show two views of the abattoir section of Grinnell, previously unoccupied by the Minuteman Band:

Southwest view of former abattoir section. Main Grinnell building seen in background.

North view of Grinnell Arena. Abattoir section seen at right of photo. The newly completed building will be attached to the east wall of Grinnell, at the left of this photo.

New life for the old Slaughterhouse!

It’s fantastic to hear that they’re finally going to make use of all of the space in the building!!
